Since 1977, Valcom has been providing the highest quality loudspeaker paging and telecommunication system enhancement intercom products.
Valcom's pre-engineered technology uses your existing infrastructure, which eliminates the need for additional wiring when connecting speakers and other intercom products. By utilizing CAT3/5/5e/6 cable, system adds, moves and changes are much quicker and easier to accomplish.
The 3 easy steps to designing a Valcom Public Address system
Step
one
Select your Central Pre-Amp (CPA)
To choose a Central Pre-Amp (CPA), the following questions should be asked:
a) How many different paging zones are required?
b) Is background music required in any of the areas?
c) Are timed tones for breaks required?
d) Is night ringing required from selected speakers?
e) Does the customer wish to control a door entry via the phone system?

two
Choose the speakers
Valcom speakers connect to the CPA via two pairs of cat5 or CWI308 cable. No impedance balancing is required as each speaker has its own amplifier and volume control. Speakers can be added without affecting other speakers on the network up to the capacities listed against each central pre-amp.
Ceiling Speakers - use with suspended ceilings where coverage is determined by speaker height
Wall Speakers - for areas without false ceilings e.g. store rooms, light industrial canteens, offices etc.
Talkback Speakers - instant answerback to the originator of the announcement by simply talking at the loudspeaker.
Up to two speakers per zone can be used (these can be mixed with up to 40 one-way speakers). Talkback speakers should only be placed in areas with a reasonably low level of background noise. Ideal environments are light assembly, packing, storage, canteens, laboratories and any other areas where telephone access would be difficult or inconvenient to the work force.
Horn Speakers - for manufacturing, warehousing, food processing, loading bays, noisy areas or any large high-ceiling applications. As with all horn speakers, the quality of music played over them is compromised by their frequency response.
Track Style Speakers - where a more upmarket design is required or high quality background music.
Pendant Speakers - for high ceiling environments where high quality sound is required. Pendant speakers are ideal for use in warehouses that require background music.

three
Choose the power supply
Each Valcom product has a power requirement listed in units of power and highlighted by a logo containing the number of units required.
To calculate the power supply required simply:
a) Add up all the units listed in the power logo/s
b) Choose the power supply that gives the units required
NB Power supplies can be used in multiple, in order to provide the required units of power.
(built-in power is sometimes included in the CPA, so an additional unit may not be required)
